Learning in Class

  • Teachers introduce the concept of Scrapaid
    • Scrapaid is the reuse and recycling of scrap into products that are sold to benefit charitable causes 
  • Students are allocated teams (alpha, bravo, etc.) and roles (Engineer, Project Manager, Marketing, Resources)
  • Groups taught skills & information according to their roles
    • Project Manager - recording team progress via website
    • Engineer - making paper bags (box - extension)
    • Marketing - analyse existing products on sale
    • Resources - sourcing & processing suitable materials
  • Teams disseminate information.
  • Making
    • Engineers teach teams how to make paper bags (all make)
    • Project Managers record progress for blogging as homework (in addition)
  • Plenary - feedback session at the end to confirm ethos and ensure homework is understood

Homework (Extended Learning) - to be completed before next lesson

  • Project Managers - Write up a blog describing what happened in the lesson

  • Engineers - Produce a colour plan/chart/storyboard showing how to make a paper bag from newspaper
    • to be scanned in/photographed at next week's lesson and uploaded to the team's gallery.

    • (would be even better if we could video the students teaching each other as well!)
  • Marketing - Produce a colour poster showing what items can be made from paper
    • to be scanned in/photographed at next week's lesson and uploaded to the team's gallery.
  • Resources - Produce a colour poster showing different sources of paper/card that can be used for making paper bags (& boxes)
    • to be scanned in/photographed at next week's lesson and uploaded to their gallery.
    • Also bring in samples/examples for use in next lesson.
